Mae Jemison- Before Mae was 30 she had earned 2 undergraduate degrees and a medical degree. She served two years in the Peace Corps as a medical officer in West Africa. She was then selected to join the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s astronaut training program. She accomplished an eight day flight about the space shuttle Endeavour in 1992 and that established Mae as the United States’ first female African-American space traveler.
